Becoming a Leader
There is no greater call we can answer than to be the tool that God uses to unlock a young person's potential.
If you are considering becoming a leader in a CSB ministry at your church, you are choosing an AWESOME journey of service and personal and spiritual growth. Be prepared to be used by God in ways you never imagined possible! You don’t have to be perfect...it’s amazing what God can do with “ordinary guys” who are willing to invest their time and themselves in the lives of young men and boys.
Requirements for the Job
The first requirement is that you know Jesus and have surrendered your life to His leadership. It’s hard to lead someone to a place you haven’t been...it’s harder still to lead them to a growing relationship with Christ if you don’t have one yourself! A leader in CSB is first and foremost a follower of Jesus.

First Steps
We encourage every leader to take part in our Basic Leadership Training Course taught either by your Regional Director or a senior CSB leader from your church. If this is not possible, we recommend working through the section from Building Men for the program you will be involved in. This resource is available directly from our warehouse. Once you have completed this “CSB orientation” you need to fill out a Leader’s application form indicating your agreement with our Statement of Faith (you can obtain this application from your church’s CSB Coordinator, your area Regional Director, or our CSB Canada office).
Church Requirements
Because all CSB programs are a part of the ministry of a local church, prospective leaders need to indicate their agreement with all requirements the local church has of its leaders. CSB Canada expects the local church to ensure that the leaders involved in their CSB programs are born again Christian men, and they are in agreement the CSB Statement of Faith. CSB also expects every church to adhere to a strong Child Protection Policy. This means you will be required to take whatever steps your church has outlined for you to be part of a ministry involving minors, including providing references and undergoing a criminal record check.
Get Connected
One of the best things you can do as a leader is connect with other CSB leaders and staff. Subscribing to our Leaders Newsletter will provide regular encouragement, tips, and information on events in your area you can be part of. Be sure to check our calendar for your region regularly!
